FIRE planning for iPhone, iPad & Android
Know the year your job becomes optional.
Not a spreadsheet. Not a lecture about lattes. Put in what you have and what you spend, and NestEgg gives you two things: your number, and the year you reach it. Then it keeps answering as your life changes.

What it answers
Two questions, then everything that follows from them
Most people arrive with one of these. The rest of the app exists because the honest answer to either one keeps raising new questions.
What is my number?
Your spending, not your salary, sets the target. NestEgg works it in today's dollars at a withdrawal rate you choose, and shows what changing that rate does to the answer.
When do I get there?
A year, marked on the chart, that moves when you change one input. Watching your date shift by four years because you added $400 a month is the moment the plan becomes real.
The question that stalls most plans
Health insurance between quitting and 65
Medicare starts at 65. Retire at 52 and you are buying thirteen years of your own cover, at a price that depends on income you partly control. It is the number one blocking question in early retirement communities, and general retirement calculators refuse to touch it.
NestEgg runs the bridge as its own line in the projection, next to Roth conversion ladders and the order you empty your accounts — because those three interact, and optimising one alone usually costs you on another.
Five ways to do it
Retire your way, not the default way
Pick one and the whole app tailors itself around it — the target, the chart, the language, the milestones.

These run in your browser and store nothing. If the answer is interesting, the app is where you keep it.

No Monte Carlo, no bank linking, no advice
NestEgg does not simulate ten thousand market futures and hand you a success percentage. It answers the earlier and more useful question: what has to be true for this plan to work? If you want probability distributions and tax-lot detail, ProjectionLab and Boldin are built for that, and they charge accordingly.
It does not connect to your bank. You type your balances in, which takes a few minutes once and means there are no credentials to lose.
And it is not financial advice. It is a model built from assumptions you choose, and it will tell you plainly which assumption is doing the most work in your answer.

Before you download
Is NestEgg free?
Yes. You can build a plan, see your FIRE number and your projected retirement year without paying or creating an account. Pro ($1.99/month or $19.99 once) adds unlimited saved scenarios and side-by-side comparison.
Does it connect to my bank?
No. You enter your balances yourself. Nothing is linked, so there are no bank credentials to lose and no aggregator sitting between you and your accounts.
Does it do Monte Carlo simulation?
No, and that is deliberate. NestEgg answers what has to be true for your plan to work rather than assigning it a success percentage. If you want a probability distribution, tools like ProjectionLab are built for that and cost accordingly.
Can my partner and I plan together?
Yes. Two incomes, two retirement ages and one shared date, which is usually the version of the question couples are actually arguing about.
Does it handle health insurance before 65?
Yes. Pre-Medicare cover is its own line in the year-by-year projection, alongside Roth conversion ladders and the order you draw your accounts in.
What are the five FIRE styles?
Traditional (25x your spending), Lean (a deliberately smaller life), Fat (early retirement without cutting back), Coast (stop contributing and let compounding finish) and Barista (part-time income covers the gap). Pick one and the whole app tailors itself around it.
